ABOUT THIS PROJECT
The Defenders Lodge was built to meet a need for the veterans that are being treated at the Palo Alto VA. VAPAHCS is a teaching hospital, providing a full range of patient care services, with state-of-the-art technology as well as education and research. The veterans that receive
long-term care at the Palo Alto VA frequently need lodging, at times resorting to sleeping in the VA parking lot. The Defenders Lodge accommodates these veterans and allows them to stay on campus free of charge during their care. The facility was a joint effort of The PenFed Credit Union and private donors.
RECOGNITION
A joint venture between the PenFed Credit Union and private donors, the Defenders Lodge gives veterans a place to stay while they receive care at the Palo Alto VA. Donor opportunities included room dedications , with self-authored tributes posted inside.
